Saguaro Lake boats
Saguaro is the closest real water to the East Valley and it pays for that convenience in traffic. On a summer weekend the ramp queue at Saguaro del Norte is the busiest in the Salt River chain, and a boat that launches there thirty times a season racks up an enormous amount of climbing on and off at a crowded dock. That is wear on the bow deck, not wear on the engine.
What Saguaro Lake does to a boat
Ramp traffic is the defining factor here. Repeated launches and recoveries at a busy dock scuff the bow deck and the gunwale edges faster than anything the water itself does, and the short tow means hubs go into the lake still hot from the Bush Highway.

FAQ
Saguaro Lake — your questions
Why does bow deck carpet wear out so fast on a Saguaro boat?
Because of how often you get on and off it. Saguaro is close enough to the valley that people launch there constantly, and every launch means climbing over the bow, kneeling to tie off, and dragging gear across the same square meter of deck.
Is the short tow to Saguaro easier on the trailer?
Less than you would hope. A short run still gets hubs hot, and the hubs then go straight into cool lake water at the ramp, which is the exact cycle that pulls water past a seal. Frequency matters more than distance for bearings.
Does the canyon wind at Saguaro affect anything on the boat?
Mostly it affects covers and anything not latched down. What it does to the boat itself is indirect — chop against the hull all afternoon means more time working the deck under your feet, which is more wear on the same carpet.
