Lake Powell boats

Powell is well outside the service radius — it is most of a day’s drive from the valley — so this page is about preparation rather than coverage. Powell is unlike any other Arizona water because trips are measured in days rather than hours. Boats live on the water for a week at a time, far from any help, which changes what "ready" has to mean before you leave.

Lake Powell is outside our service radius. The shop is in Mesa, roughly 275 miles away, and we do not work on boats at the lake. This page is about getting the boat right before you make that drive — and fixing what the trip found afterward.

What Lake Powell does to a boat

Continuous immersion and remoteness. A week on the water without hauling out keeps everything permanently wet in a way a day trip never does, and the distance means a small failure that would be an inconvenience at Saguaro becomes a genuine problem at Powell.

FAQ

Lake Powell — your questions

Do you service boats at Lake Powell?

No. Powell is roughly 275 miles from the shop and well outside the service radius. The useful thing an East Valley shop can do for a Powell trip is make sure the boat leaves the valley right, because there is very little help once you are up there.

What matters most before a multi-day Powell trip?

Anything whose failure would end the trip rather than annoy you. Trailer bearings for the long tow, electronics that are actually reliable rather than intermittent, and a trolling motor whose wiring has been checked under load — not on the driveway.

Does a week on the water hurt carpet?

It is harder on it than the same hours spread across a season. Carpet that never gets a chance to dry keeps working moisture into the adhesive underneath, which is how edges start lifting after a big trip rather than gradually.
