Why do Bartlett regulars go through bearings?
Because of the descent. Bartlett Dam Road is a long sustained downhill that heats hubs far beyond what flat towing does, and those hot hubs go straight into cool lake water at the bottom. That temperature swing is exactly what draws water past a seal.
Should I let the hubs cool before launching at Bartlett?
It genuinely helps, and it costs nothing but a few minutes in the staging area. It will not substitute for properly packed bearings and good seals, but it reduces the severity of the one cycle that does most of the damage.
